The Association for the Study of Death and Society (ASDS) promotes the study of death in the arts, humanities, social and allied sciences. To this end, the association:
- fosters and promotes publication, conferences and multidisciplinary networks;
- supports academic professional development;
- promotes high-quality, ethical research in the field of death studies;
- shapes and influences policy and practice agendas;
- supports the teaching of death studies;
- promotes the widespread recognition of death studies; and
- represents the interests of our membership.
ASDS sponsors the interdisciplinary death studies journal Mortality and hosts the signature Death, Dying and Disposal (DDD) conference series which attracts death studies researchers and professionals from around the world. Postgraduate and postdoctoral death studies researchers are supported through dedicated groups, and all members have the opportunity to enter our ASDS Awards scheme.
